Temporomandibular Joint pain

About

TMJ pain refers to discomfort or dysfunction in the temporomandibular joint, which connects the jawbone to the skull. This condition can cause jaw pain, headaches, clicking or popping sounds, difficulty chewing, and even neck or ear discomfort. TMJ issues often result from teeth grinding (bruxism), jaw clenching, stress, arthritis, or misalignment of the jaw. Because the TMJ is used constantly for talking, eating, and yawning, pain or stiffness in this area can significantly affect daily life. Over time, untreated TMJ dysfunction can lead to chronic pain, muscle tightness, and limited jaw movement.

Our Goal

  • Relieves jaw tension and pain through gentle manual therapy and soft tissue release.
  • Improves joint movement and alignment with targeted jaw and neck exercises.
  • Reduces inflammation and muscle tightness using modalities like heat therapy or ultrasound.
  • Educates on posture, relaxation, and jaw control techniques to prevent recurring pain and improve overall function.
