Cupping Therapy

What is Cupping Therapy

At Maw Physiotherapy, cupping therapy is offered as a natural and relaxing treatment to help relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote healing. This technique involves placing special suction cups on the skin to create gentle negative pressure. The suction helps lift the soft tissues, allowing fresh, oxygen-rich blood to flow into the area and remove built-up waste products from tight or sore muscles. Cupping can be performed using either static placement (leaving cups in one spot) or dynamic movement (gliding cups across the skin with oil). At Maw Physiotherapy, this treatment is often combined with manual therapy or stretching to enhance recovery and restore mobility safely and effectively.

Benefits:

  • Reduces muscle tension and stiffness
  • Improves blood flow and promotes tissue healing
  • Helps flush out toxins and metabolic waste
  • Decreases pain and inflammation
  • Enhances flexibility and range of motion
  • Relieves stress and promotes relaxation
  • Aids recovery from sports or overuse injuries
  • Complements physiotherapy treatments for faster overall progress
