Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation

Book Now

What is it?

At Maw Physiotherapy, TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is used as an effective and gentle method to help patients manage pain and improve recovery. The treatment works by sending small electrical pulses through the skin to stimulate the nerves in the affected area. These pulses help block pain signals from reaching the brain while also encouraging the release of endorphins, the body’s natural pain relievers. Depending on the condition, your physiotherapist at Maw Physiotherapy will carefully adjust the frequency and intensity of the treatment to ensure maximum comfort and effectiveness. TENS is often used alongside other hands-on therapies and exercises to help patients move better and heal faster.

Benefits of TENS Therapy at Maw Physiotherapy

  • Provides fast, drug-free pain relief
  • Reduces both acute and chronic pain
  • Increases blood flow and promotes healing
  • Helps relax tight or sore muscles
  • Decreases inflammation and stiffness
  • Encourages natural endorphin release
  • Allows for easier movement during recovery exercises
  • Safe, non-invasive, and customizable to each patient’s needs
